How Does Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Work?

FDN works on a different model than the medical community. I do not diagnose disease; I don’t focus on symptoms. I don't prescribe medication.

I look at how the body functions. I look for the root cause of issues and attack the issue at its core.

I test for malfunction and restore functions through education on lifestyle, nutrition, supplementation, and bio-identical hormone therapy.

FDN approaches wellness from a functional standpoint. The body is designed to function at 100% and remain in a state of ease. When the body gets out of homeostasis, it is no longer functioning at 100% and enters a state of “malfunction” and “disease”. Instead of dealing solely with the symptoms of such malfunction, FDN searches for the root cause of the distress.

Once the cause is identified, a protocol can be generated to not only remove the symptoms, but also restore the body back to 100% function and ease.

Investing in your body is a continuous and exciting process. Retesting on a regular basis is necessary to check that you’re moving in the right direction, and to adjust if test results indicate that a change is needed.

Available Tests

1. Saliva Testing

Adrenal Stress profile + sex hormones + melatonin * Tests for levels of cortisol, DHEA-S, estradiol, estriol, progesterone, testosterone, and melatonin.

It is crucially important to keep youthful levels of these important hormones to have energy and to stay healthy. I use only Bio-Identical Hormone therapy to restore balance.

2. Urine Testing

One Urine Test for the Following Three Functions

  • Indican Test: Is an index of the efficiency of protein digestion.

  • Lipid Peroxides Test: Is an index of cellular membrane damage caused by the action of free radicals.

  • UBAS Test: Urinary Bile Acid Sulfate present in urine is a direct measurement of liver function.

Keeping sufficient digestion, absorption and assimilation is also crucially important for long-term health.

3. Salive Testing

Mucosal Barrier Test:Tests the integrity of the mucosal barrier, our first line immune defense.

4. Stool Testing

Pathogen Screen: Test for pathogens in the intestines such as parasites, bacteria, fungi and yeast.

You can participate in this program from the comfort of your own home. Pre-testing and result consultations can be done over the phone. Test kits are either given to you in-person or can be mailed out to you for pre-paid mail return.
